Super Mario Galaxy Movie leak arrives via a box of cookies, revealing an iconic game location and possible new villain

Super Mario Galaxy Movie Leaks Reveal Cosmic Observatory and Bowser Jr.

Fans of the Mario franchise may have gotten their first glimpse at the Cosmic Observatory from Super Mario Galaxy thanks to a recent product leak. Packaging for Pillsbury cookies has revealed a new Yoshi render and confirmed the inclusion of Bowser Jr. as a villain in the upcoming movie adaptation.

The Cosmic Observatory, originally Mario’s home base in the 2007 Wii game, served as the central hub while he searched for Grand Stars across the universe. Many players preferred it over Super Mario Galaxy 2’s Mario-shaped spaceship, and it seems the movie will pay homage to this iconic location.

In addition to Yoshi, who was hinted at in the post-credits scene of The Super Mario Movie, the packaging also appears to confirm Bowser Jr. will play a role. Bowser’s son has been a recurring antagonist since his debut in Super Mario Sunshine in 2002.

Interestingly, Yoshi’s pose alongside Mario on the back of the Pillsbury box mirrors the box art from Super Mario Galaxy 2, suggesting the movie will be packed with nods and references for longtime fans. The first movie contained 85 Easter eggs, and the sequel looks poised to surpass that number.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is set to hit theaters on April 3, 2026, and fans can expect plenty of callbacks to the beloved games.
