Silksong's most-hated areas just became a little easier thanks to desperately desired Muckmaggot nerfs

Hollow Knight: Silksong Patch 4 Nerfs Muckmaggots and Adds Player-Requested Changes

Team Cherry has released Patch 4 (version 1.0.29242) for Hollow Knight: Silksong on PC, introducing a number of gameplay tweaks and quality-of-life improvements based on player feedback.

One of the most notable changes is the nerf to Muckmaggots, the pesky creatures that have plagued players in the Bilewater and Putrified Ducts areas. Previously, Muckmaggots caused one of the most frustrating status effects in the game, eating through silk and forcing players to bind in order to restore health. The new patch increases the durability of the Wreath of Purity, a tool that keeps Muckmaggots at bay, and allows the Multibinder to clear them with the first of its two binds, leaving the second for healing Hornet.

"The latter of these changes was made due to community comments," Team Cherry notes, highlighting the studio’s responsiveness to player feedback.

In addition, Patch 4 introduces a Simplified Chinese translation, adapted from a fan mod by Team Cart Fit. Team Cherry confirmed the translation team is “well-versed in the (quite dense) narrative and lore of both Hollow Knight games.”

Other improvements include:

  • Enabling rumble support for more controllers.

  • Shortening the duration of binding when using the Multibinder with the Shaman’s crest.

  • Slightly increasing the damage of Hornet’s Thread Storm skill on subsequent hits.

  • Preventing couriers from offering the same delivery twice consecutively.

  • Making Gurr the Outcast more challenging by reducing the time he remains stationary.

For players who previously found areas like Bilewater or the Putrified Ducts frustrating, Patch 4 provides a strong incentive to return to Pharloom and continue their adventure.
