Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 devs want to "establish ourselves as the new kings of RPG," and the studio's future "will definitely be immersive RPGs"

Warhorse Studios Aims to Become RPG Royalty After Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Success

Warhorse Studios, the Prague-based developer behind Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, has confirmed its commitment to immersive RPGs, promising that its future projects will continue to build on the success of its critically and commercially acclaimed sequel.

During a preview event for the upcoming Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC, communications director Tobi Stolz-Zwilling emphasized the studio’s focus:

"The one and only thing I can promise you, that's also why I'm pushing for that RPG [Golden Joystick award], is that we absolutely feel at home in the RPG genre. We want to establish ourselves as the new kings of RPG. We believe that we have our own formula here, and that we define them in a specific way, and our next project will go in the same direction. It will definitely be immersive RPGs."

Fans can breathe a sigh of relief: Warhorse has no plans to pivot into unrelated genres like bullet-hell roguelikes or construction simulators. Instead, the studio intends to refine and expand upon the core mechanics that made Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a standout title, earning it consideration for Game of the Year alongside games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Donkey Kong Bananza, and Hollow Knight: Silksong.

With the sequel already improving upon the original in graphics, gameplay, and mechanics, Warhorse’s next project could position the studio alongside RPG heavyweights such as Larian Studios, Bethesda, and CD Projekt Red. Stolz-Zwilling’s statement underscores a clear vision: Warhorse aims to define what immersive RPGs mean in the modern gaming landscape.
