Finally, Battlefield 6 is putting an end to drone-surfing with sledgehammers as EA fixes "an exploit allowing players to ascend and access unintended areas"

Battlefield 6 Patch 1.1.1.5 Fixes Game-Breaking Drone Exploit

EA has finally addressed a notorious drone glitch in Battlefield 6 that, while amusing, was severely disrupting online matches. The exploit allowed players to ascend into unintended areas by standing on a XFGM-6D Recon Drone and hitting it with a sledgehammer, creating an unfair advantage for sniping or exploring inaccessible parts of maps.

The 1.1.1.5 update, set to launch on November 11 at 1am PT / 4am ET / 9am GMT, brings a host of quality-of-life improvements. The patch notes, published on the official Battlefield website, list the drone exploit fix as the top item under “major updates”:

"Fixed an exploit allowing players to ascend and access unintended areas when standing on a XFGM-6D Recon Drone by hitting it with the Sledgehammer."

The drone glitch, first widely noticed in mid-October, allowed repeated hits to launch players high into the air, creating perfect sniping positions or access to otherwise unreachable map areas. While the exploit generated humorous clips online, it was widely considered game-breaking in competitive matches.

Beyond the drone fix, the update includes several other significant improvements:

  • Enhanced reliability of countermeasures against lock-guided missiles.

  • Resolved vehicle spawning issues in Breakthrough and Conquest modes.

  • Broad improvements to battle royale gameplay, progression, audio, and UI issues.

Players have expressed relief that the exploit is finally patched, noting that it should restore balance to online matches and enhance the overall Battlefield 6 experience.
