Cyberpunk 2077 devs offer support to spiralling GTA 6 fans following delay by reminding them of their RPG's infamously terrible launch
CD Projekt Red Reminds Fans of Cyberpunk 2077 as GTA 6 Delays Again
Rockstar Games has officially pushed back the release date of GTA 6, moving it from May 2026 to November 2026, citing the need for additional time to deliver the "level of polish you have come to expect and deserve." The announcement marks the second delay for the highly anticipated open-world title.
In response, CD Projekt Red took a moment to remind the gaming world of its own missteps. The studio behind The Witcher 4 dug up a five-year-old social media post originally referencing the delay of Cyberpunk 2077:
"No more delays are happening."
The post serves as a cautionary tale for developers and players alike. Cyberpunk 2077 became infamous for its buggy and broken launch, with issues persisting for years until major updates, including the 2.0 patch, addressed many problems.
The reminder also comes with a subtle message for players to temper expectations and exercise patience. As Gabe Newell once put it:
"Late is just for a little while, suck is forever."
Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, appears aware of the pitfalls of releasing games before they’re ready. CEO Strauss Zelnick told investors,
"When our competitors go to market before something was ready, bad things happen."
With the extra six months, Rockstar aims to ensure GTA 6 launches polished and complete, avoiding the reputation pitfalls that have befallen other high-profile releases.
