Escape From Duckov: The Duck-Themed Shooter Quacking Its Way to Steam Success
The parody game Escape From Duckov is proving to be just as sensational as its inspiration, Escape From Tarkov, with a massive player count on Steam that even surpassed Battlefield 6 over the past weekend.
The indie PVE shooter asks the question gamers have been wondering for years: what if someone made an extraction shooter where you play as ducks? True to its genre, Escape From Duckov is a hardcore survival experience, complete with tense extraction mechanics, loot management, and challenging combat—but with a whimsical twist: all the characters are ducks.
Since its launch on October 16, 2025, the game has been a major hit. It sold 1 million copies within its first week, rapidly climbing Steam’s popularity charts. According to SteamDB, Escape From Duckov reached a peak concurrent player count of 300,645 over the weekend, placing it 4th in the Steam charts, ahead of major titles like Battlefield 6, Apex Legends, and GTA 5. Only Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds consistently occupy higher positions, making Duckov’s performance particularly notable.
The game has maintained strong daily engagement, consistently attracting over 200,000 daily players since October 21. While Escape From Tarkov does not release official player count statistics, its performance has recently been affected by technical and cheating issues. This leaves room for the duck-based parody to potentially outperform its namesake in concurrent players—at least until Tarkov’s official 1.0 launch.
Escape From Duckov demonstrates the appetite gamers have for both humorous takes on hardcore genres and well-executed indie experiences, proving that even quirky concepts can dominate the charts when done right.
